Hearts of Summer

The chimes of east wind
ting-ting they sing
curtains flow like skirt of 13 year old
like a peacock dancing in the rain

Jingles the old Christmas hang
and coos the little cuckoo’s nest
girls and ladies sew the fabric
while we men run across the grains

Damp and pale is the sky now
marched upon by the knights of dark
raining down upon us with wine
stolen from cellars of paradise
only to drain

I sit inside my wooden hut
peeping through the cracked glass pane
whining for a drop to hit me once
’cause that’s all the reason I desire
to dance in the rain
